Metro Regional Connector Transit Project Update

OCTOBER 27, 2015

Tree Removal at 2nd/Hope Station

In preparation for excavation activities at the future 2nd/Hope Station, Regional Connector Constructors (RCC) will be removing total of 46 trees in the area bound by 3rd St., General Thaddeus Kosciusko(GTK) Way, Hope St. and Flower St.

Work is anticipated to start Monday, November 2, 2015 for approximately one week. Anticipated work hours are from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

This activity will require the following intermittent closures:

  • Northbound directional closure on Hope St. between 1st and 2nd St.
  • Full closure of GTK Way and northbound Flower St. between the 3rd/Flower and 2nd Place/Hope intersections.
  • Lane reductions on westbound 2nd between Grand Ave. and Hope St.

For the full construction notice:

Sidewalks along GTK Way and Hope St may be intermittently restricted during work hours.

Pedestrian access will be maintained outside of the work area.

The Board of Public Works approved the tree removal permit on August 19, 2015.  City of Los Angeles tree removal permits require a minimum 2 to 1 tree replacement ratio.  Trees will be planted at the end of construction near the area of removal, based on City requirements.
